With the weather we’ve had this season and the number of teams we now have at the club (15 next season and over 200 members) we’ve moved quickly to secure a great new venue for future Lancing United Colts matches at Sir Robert Woodard Academy on the grass pitches.
We’ve worked with the SWRA team to come up with a proposition that really works for both us, and them with a rolling agreement in place. The new space comes with it’s own parking for 50 cars and access direct on to the pitches with no need to have access to the main school areas.
This is really exciting as it now allows us to continue to grow as a club and adds to the great playing venues we already have. It also keeps us primarily based in Lancing, which is important to our club.
For next season, our Colts teams will be playing at Sir Robert Woodard Academy, Shoreham Academy, Lancing College and our own ground, Croshaw Recreation Ground. .
All of our pitches are either located on private grounds that are well looked after and maintained by the schools, or are on long term leases, and controlled and looked after by our club direct, namely Croshaw.
Croshaw will now host all of our 11 a side matches and make full use of our great facilities, including the fantastic changing rooms. With the smaller sided games being moved to SRWA the Croshaw surface will have less games being played on it, especially in concentrated areas, meaning the playing surface will be perfect for 11 a side matches. We will also continue to invest in the pitch as we do each season.
A big thank you goes out to The Sir Robert Woodard Academy for agreeing to work with us and support our grass roots club as they already do with the Chelsea Development Centre.
We will share details of which teams will be playing at our various locations before the start of next season. This will also have “zero” impact on our signing on fees, or result in needing to charge for matches which demonstrates how we continue to look to invest in the development of the club each season as we continue to grow.

3 seasons down and with over 100 members already on our books, we are certainly going from strength to strength and there aren’t many clubs out there who haven’t heard of the mighty Colts!
The Red and Black Army is marching on strong and I am proud to see us developing strongly not only on the pitch, but off of it too.
One of the things I have always wanted from this club was for us to never stand still, as once you do you are in effect going backwards.
This is what has happened to a number of the other local clubs in this area and it has taken for a club like ours to come along to invigorate the others and shock them into life.
This is something that I am really proud to have done as it will improve the overall level of football in Lancing and this would never have been possible without the amazing committee that I have behind me doing all of the hard work day in day out. Chip, Becki, Paul, Dan and Tash to name a few…You are all super stars. Thank you.
Whilst tonight is meant to be all about the players and their achievements over the season, I also want to make this evening an evening of appreciation for our managers and coaches. We are blessed in this club to have some of the most dedicated, ambitious and committed managers and coaches that I have ever seen at youth football level.
These guys are all “super heroes” in my eyes. Thank you, guys, you are a credit to this club, and I am personally very proud to have you on board and I will continue to support all of you 100% as the seasons go by. I know that all of the players worship the ground you walk on and look up to you more than you’d ever realise. Never forget that, as in the players you coach and manage you will have friends for life.
Personally, for me, the cornerstone of youth football is about 3 things….1) family 2) friendships and 3) getting to know the people and families who live close to you in the local area. There will be the odd superstar who will go all the way and become a top player (we are already developing a few!), but the majority of the players that are with us will go on to play local football at varying levels, with and against their mates.
I know that the vast majority of my good friends are people that I have played football with and against and good few of them will be here tonight celebrating their child’s success, just like I will be doing with my son Noah.
Football is a game that gives you the greatest memories, the greatest heartache and also the greatest friends you can ever wish for, therefore I want you all to have a cracking night tonight, enjoy the presentations and please stay behind for the after party which is guaranteed to be fun for the adults and children as well! We are a family club and we want everyone to have a great time tonight therefor let your hair down, have fun and celebrate an amazing season for all of our teams.

We now go into our 5th month of Mini Colts since starting back in January, and today we had our biggest session yet with 18 Mini’s attending this morning!! Plus a few unable to make the session, this means we have 20 regular Mini Colts.
This has far exceeded our plans when we started, as our initial goal was to launch a session just to get kids involved at our club and coming along to try out football for the first time. We now have roughly 10 reception age players and around 10 year 1’s for next years new under 7’s! This is great as potentially we can start an under 7’s next season and another under 7’s the following year!
This is important to us as it means next year at Lancing United Colts we now have Under 6’s, Under 7’s. Under 8’s, 2 x Under 9’s, Under 10’s, 2 x Under 11’s, Under 12’s, Under 13’s and Under 14’s so the club is growing all the time!!
It’s great to see so many coming along each week and showing commitment by paying in advance for our sessions and loads paying weekly to give it go!
As a club, it’s important to bring through the next generation and to help them enjoy training and improve week on week. So many are looking smart in our all black mini colts training kits so a Big thank you to Chippies and Brandabble for sponsoring the Mini Colts training kits and also a big thank-you Leigh for helping with the coaching.
We look forward to seeing them up on stage at the Charmandean Centre on 7th June at our Annual Presentation Evening to pick up their awards.

Mini Colts gives new players a chance to try football before we get into the friendly but challenging side of playing youth football. In these sessions, we will focus on building confidence, passing, team play and importantly having fun while doing all of that.
These sessions will run weekly, the first one is free, and thereafter we charge £4 per session. Alternatively, there is the option to pay in advance. This will include 11 sessions and your child will receive a Mini Colts Kit to train in, which you may have seen on our facebook page. The cost for this option is £50. The kits can also be purchased with the pay as you go option for £22 per kit, which is at cost price.
With a large group of players, we will split the groups and rotate through different activities to keep the amount of contact with a football high and finish with some 5 a side matches. We have 3 coaches on hand for the sessions and currently have 25 footballs to ensure lots of contact with a ball.
We will in time split these groups according to age and ability. We will plan to keep shuffling these groups as players develop at different rates.
Any parents that have a love of football that would like to get involved with helping out at training please let us know as soon as possible. We promise you that you will love being involved with the club and seeing the development of young players from Mini Colts hopefully through to Senior football, all at our club. We fund coaching courses and managers are left in charge of their own sides with no pressure to take on additional players to bring in more money.

Is your son or daughter looking to start playing football? Mini colts are the perfect place to start. We run weekly training sessions for children in reception and year 1.
Lancing United Colts is always growing and we are looking to start new generations football journey with a new mini colts training session at the start of this season.
Sessions will be held every Saturday morning at Crowshaw rec from 10am -11am start from 7th September
Costs will be either:
£4 per session payable on the day
£55 pay in advance including a Free Mini Colts kit for 12 sessions
£35 for existing pay in advance players for 12 sessions (these already have a Mini Colts Kit)
The Mini Colts isn’t compulsory
Training will begin on again in 7th September 10am till 11am at Crowshaw Rec.
